Maintenance

Maintenance is essential to gain the most benefit from the renovation and to keep carbon emissions at a low level. INDU-ZERO has designed the wall and roof panels in a way that they do not need to be maintained during their 40 years of life. However, some of the systems do require maintenance for example the 4-yearly cleaning of the ventilation channels, the yearly replacement of ventilation filters, the yearly maintenance of the heat pumps and the 10-yearly exchange of the inverters of the PV panels. A monitoring system keeps continuous track of indicators such as electricity, heat and hot water usage as well as ventilation and the generated power. Changes indicating that an issue has arisen will be reported automatically in order to be able to anticipate on defects in time. Within the user face of the lifetime of buildings it is important to develop a replacement management plan based on service life data and documentation. Manufacturers’ data is used to create service life estimates and standard guides to calculate life cycle cost.

Material Disposal

Adequately managing a material after its in-use life is essential in ensuring that a product's total environmental impact is low. INDU-ZERO has taken the disposal into consideration already from the start of the design phase. Roof and wall panels can be easily detached because of the innovative anchors used for mounting. The INDU-ZERO sandwich panel comprises a small number of materials that can be easily separated to make it suitable for recycling. The EPS can be ground down or reused and put back in the material loop. From logistics to factory design, product use and material disposal; INDU-ZERO has prioritised sustainability at every stage. Now we can make sure that with INDU-ZERO’s renovation packages, we deliver a truly sustainable product. End of life management documentation secures a closed-loop system, for reuse and recycling of components and fulfil EU’s Waste Framework Directive (WFD) 2008/98/EC.
